Drakes of Torbay Funeral Service was proud to support a charity quiz and fancy dress night at The Dog & Duck pub in Torquay on 30 August 2026, helping to raise funds for a new community defibrillator.
The event, organised in support of the Preston & Paignton Community Defibrillator Project, brought local people together for an evening of fun while raising more than £1,600 towards installing a defibrillator in the Babbacombe Road/Reddenhill Road shopping area.
Stuart Drake attended on behalf of Drakes of Torbay Funeral Service and was delighted to support such an important community initiative. The need for a defibrillator was identified by local residents and customers who noticed there was no device available in the area should an emergency arise.
The fundraising effort has already made a real difference. The defibrillator was installed just three weeks ago and has already been used once, highlighting the importance of having lifesaving equipment readily accessible within the community.
Having a publicly accessible defibrillator available provides peace of mind for local residents and could prove vital in an emergency, helping to make the community a safer place for everyone.
